About Tradewater's work
Tradewater is a mission-based B Corp that works with individuals, organizations, and governments globally to find, measure, and safely mitigate the world’s most potent super polluting greenhouse gases: halocarbons and methane. These non-CO2 gases represent a critical path to avoiding climate change in the short-term.
Our integrated approach results in immediate and permanent climate impact and is supported by selling our highest quality carbon offset credits.

Tradewater actively develops projects all around the world to find, collect, and destroy non-CO2 gases. To see where we are actively working, visit our global projects page.
If you want us to explore your country for old Halocarbon gases, please contact us to learn more.
If you have access to an orphaned oil and gas well, contact our methane team to learn if your well qualifies.
Tradewater is focused on avoidance projects. Our work permanently prevents the release of non-CO2 gases like halocarbons and methane.
Unlike removal or carbon capture projects, like reforestation, sequestration, and direct air capture, that aim to absorb existing CO2 from the atmosphere, avoidance projects like, methane capture, or refrigerant destruction, prevent emissions from ever entering into the atmosphere to begin with.
Choosing an avoidance project like ours means you will make an immediate impact slowing down climate change in the near-term while providing critical time needed for long-term projects to take hold.
Tradewater offers various ways for individuals, businesses, and governments alike to make a big impact for the planet.
Take action by supporting our work through offsetting emissions, helping us destroy halocarbon gases, or stopping orphaned oil and gas wells from leaking methane. Learn more about getting involved here.
About Tradewater's carbon credits
Carbon credits are tradable permits that represent the reduction or removal of one metric ton of carbon dioxide (CO₂) or its equivalent in greenhouse gases. They are used by businesses and individuals to offset their carbon footprint by funding climate-friendly projects. Carbon credits can be part of a regulated cap-and-trade system or purchased voluntarily to support sustainability efforts.

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs) released into in the atmosphere due to human activity. Carbon emissions are typically measured in metric tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2e). Totaling the sum of emissions produced from your daily choices and actions will determine your carbon footprint.
We have built a simple tool to help you determine your carbon footprint. You can use it to calculate your personal impact or the impact of your business.
Yes! In fact, it’s a critical piece in stopping climate change.
Carbon credits help lower emissions by creating a financial incentive for businesses to reduce their carbon footprint. Additionally, carbon credits are crucial to fund projects like carbon avoidance, carbon capture, renewable energy, and reforestation, which actively prevent or remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. When properly regulated, carbon credits drive real emissions reductions and support global sustainability efforts.
Each of our projects are third-party verified and meet high-quality standards. Learn more about our high-impact, high-integrity carbon credits.
Yes! Each of our projects undergoes vigorous third-party verifications, ensuring our projects meet strict quality standards and resulting in the highest-quality credits. In fact, many of our international ODS destruction projects have received the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label for meeting their rigorous standards, assuring buyers that they can trust in the quality of our credits.
When you purchase offset credits from us, not only are you helping to scale our impact, but you are joining our community in supporting the critical path to avoiding climate change by investing in a proven, science-backed, and results-driven program.
As a vertically oriented company, carbon credits are funneled back and re-invested into our work: sourcing, measuring and mitigating additional non-CO2 gases worldwide. Our integrated approach meets the highest standards, resulting in verifiable, permanent climate impact, and sustainable economic benefits.
