CFC stockpiles in Honduras
Learn more about Tradewater's removing remaining refrigerant stockpiles in Honduras.
Stopping the leak of old refrigerants
Tradewater came across a former importer of CFCs with a remaining stockpile of CFC-12. Since 2004, this material sat around waiting for a buyer, but over time the cylinders began to rust and leak into the atmosphere. Tradewater traveled to Honduras to acquire the material and carefully quantified what was still contained in the disposable cylinders.
The process of packing up the material was tricky, with some cylinders rapidly leaking once moved. However, thanks to the timely response of Honduras’ Ozone Unit, the leaking refrigerant was moved to more durable recovery cylinders and the stockpile was successfully shipped off to destruction.
